“My entire life I have been a keen sportsman and have competed in a large spectrum of sports including rugby, cricket, hockey, football, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu and many more. From this wide range of sports I have become fascinated with optimal human movement and performance which led me to study Strength and Conditioning Science at St Mary’s University where I received a First-Class Honours degree.
During my time at St Mary’s, I worked for London Irish in the Gallagher Premiership with both the first team and the senior academy for two years as a strength and conditioning coach. I also coached a national level sprinter and a wide variety of youth athletes. During my experience, it became increasingly noticeable that individuals who moved effortlessly were significantly more resilient to injury than those whose movement looked stiff and forced at all levels of participation. These experiences led me to become extremely interested in using movement rehabilitation in order to prevent future injuries and this became a fundamental part of the training which I carried out. During this time I found that poor movement was often a result of stiff and tight muscles and I realised that to improve movement I needed to learn how to be able to influence this. As a result I pursued further training so I am also a qualified level 3 sports massage therapist and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM) therapist which I frequently use to reduce pain and ultimately get people moving better.
I am thoroughly enjoying my role as a Functional Movement Rehabilitation Coach at Sussex Back Pain Clinic and excited to use my knowledge and experience to help people get out of pain, move better and get back to being active. I provide a range of services including foundational movement rehabilitation, movement screening using the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), soft tissue release and our Better Back Programme. I am also part of our IDD Therapy team at Sussex Back Pain Clinic, guiding patients through their exercise rehabilitation as well as administering the IDD Therapy sessions alongside Maria, our specialist IDD nurse.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals.”
