Dream holiday nearly scuppered by Sciatica

Jason Pelham, a 47 year old site manager, almost had to cancel his family’s dream holiday due to continuous pain caused by sciatica.

Holidays are generally very important to us, giving us the opportunity to get away from daily life and relax, eat and drink a bit more than we probably should and spend quality time with the family. They are something to look forward to and enjoy, but this can quickly turn to despair and worry when you suffer with back pain and sciatica.

Jason Pelham, a 47 year old site manager, had suffered from a grumbling disc problem for nearly 3 years but decided that he wanted to take his family on a dream holiday to Disneyworld USA.  However, soon after booking this, his condition took a turn for the worse with continuous pain in the lower back along with numbness to his right leg and foot, so much so that he could not work and could not sleep for more than 5 hours. He was on a cocktail of daily drugs and life was pretty miserable. With his holiday looming he was contemplating either having to disappoint his family and cancel this or try to ‘grin and bear it’.

He had been in the NHS system for a long time but was not getting anywhere with this. “I seemed to go around in circles with no one telling me anything and just increasing pain relief. Nobody told me of any other treatments, just live with the pain or possibly surgery.”

In desperation Jason searched for other treatments that possibly could help him and he found IDD Therapy at the Sussex Back Pain Clinic at Hove. He came for a consultation and commenced a 6 week course of treatment to treat his disc without the need for surgery.

Within the first 7 days I decided to try and come off all the medications I had spent 3 years taking.  After their effects had worn off I was happily almost pain free. After the next 5 treatments I was without pain and had feeling back in my foot. It was the best course of treatment I could ever wish for, very comfortable and gave effective relief.

Jason went on to successfully complete his treatment and was delighted with the outcome “It is like being a new person. I have an occasional twinge of pain but nothing near before, no painkillers dragging me down and being able to take my family holiday to Disney and go on the rides with the children was the best for me.

When asked what advice he would give to anyone else suffering from disc pain and sciatica this is what he said  “When you feel all avenues are leading nowhere think again and try this almost secret treatment the doctors don’t speak about or pretend to know nothing of.  It’s worth the investment if you would like your life back.  Steve and the team are wonderful people and very helpful every step of the way through the treatment
