How Does Osteopathy Work?
Osteopathy rebalances your body, improving its function. It tackles muscle tightness, joint and posture imbalances, and addresses issues in ligaments, tendons, and nerves. By using manual therapy and a proactive approach, it provides a clear treatment path. Osteopathy eliminates pain effectively and prevents long-term problems. It empowers you to live without pain, offering both relief and preventive measures for optimal well-being.
Our Osteopathy services in Brighton and Hove provide you the support and guidance you need to fix the cause of your problem, rather than just the pain itself, and stop it from coming back in the future.

You Don’t Have to Wait Until You’re In Pain. Seek Treatment Before It Becomes A Problem
Pain can come and go. It’s the twinges you feel when you move in a certain way. It’s the aches and stiffness that you’re worried might become more serious. It’s the agonising back injury that you think has fixed itself, only to come back stronger at a later date.
You don’t need to be in pain to benefit from Osteopathy services. Osteopathy helps you treat the cause of your pain. Whether it’s an old injury, an underlying imbalance in your knees or hips, or poor posture caused by a sedentary lifestyle, you’ll discover the reason why you’re not able to live your life to its fullest—and take control before your pain controls you.

It’s All About Understanding Where Your Pain is Coming From
When it comes to back and neck pain, just treating the pain itself isn’t enough. We work with you so you understand your condition fully, so you know why it’s occurring, and exactly what’s required to achieve your desired outcome.
We then assist you in taking responsibility for your spinal health. We’ll be there at every step in your progress, with a tailored treatment plan that helps you learn how to use your body more efficiently. You’ll learn to build resilience and strength, so you can prevent future recurrence of your condition.
How Our Process Works
Here’s how we work with you.
STEP
1
Book a new patient consultation with us. We’ll get to know you, understand your specific condition, and take an in-depth case history and thorough physical examination to determine what you want or need to be able to achieve, and what you want your future to look like.
STEP
2
We identify the potential causes of your condition. This could be internal factors, like an old injury or your posture, or any external factors that may be playing a part.
STEP
3
We formulate a definitive diagnosis. This allows us to understand exactly where you are now, and gives you a goal that we can help you work towards.
STEP
4
We then develop an individual treatment plan to address the causes of your pain, and help you on the path to living your life pain-free.

Frequently Asked Questions
A physiotherapist works with their patients to use movement and exercise, and manual therapy, to help them recover from injuries. Osteopaths use techniques to influence joints, muscles, nerves, circulation and connective tissues, and aim to have an all-encompassing approach to diagnosis and management to help you improve the structure and function of your body. We’re trained to treat your musculoskeletal issues at their root cause, and provide a roadmap to avoid future recurrence of the issue. Put simply, we help treat the condition, rather than just the symptoms.
With our experience, we would expect approximately 80% of people to see improvements after 3 to 4 treatments. So depending on your condition, we typically start to see an improvement in your condition after just a few visits. We can then use this as a guide as to how long it will take for you to be able to manage your condition with reduced support from us.
However, every body is different. Long term and chronic conditions may take a longer treatment course to start seeing changes.
The number of osteopathy treatment sessions you need all depends on your condition, and your goals, so we can’t answer this one conclusively here. Our aim is to help you live a life free of back and neck pain, and get back to doing what you need to do, so we’ll recommend the optimal number of treatment sessions to achieve this. Speak to our Osteopaths to get a better idea of what this looks like for your treatment.
Although we do get referrals from GPS, you don’t actually need one to book in with us. We’re a primary care provider, so you can book an appointment directly with us, any time you need.
Our sessions typically range from one hour in your first session, then 30 minutes for follow-up sessions. However these can vary depending on the level of support and care that you need.
