“I have always been an avid gym-goer, with an interest in exercise, health and well-being. After my experience of training for marathons, I was inspired to further my understanding in exercise physiology where I became a qualified personal trainer and returned to university to study a BSc in Health and Exercise Science, followed by a Masters (MSc) in Applied Exercise Physiology.
Since graduating I have worked with athletes, marathon runners and clinical populations. Prior to joining the Sussex Back Pain Clinic, I was working as a research assistant on a collaborative project with Brighton and Sussex Medical School and St. Georges Hospital, funded by the Medical Research Council. The research focused on the neurobiology of post-exertional malaise, in patients with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS). During this role I gained invaluable experience working with patients in a clinical setting and I thoroughly enjoyed research into providing a better understanding of the condition, aiming to help recovery and restore quality of life.
Exercise, physiology and recovery is of great interest to me, therefore utilising my current skill set and experiences has enabled me to fulfil the position at the SBPC as part of the IDD team. The clinic is a friendly, caring and supportive environment, and it is a pleasure to be apart of a team who are committed to patients to ensure the best possible care.”
